This Privacy Policy explains how SK95 Engineering handles information when you use the Ambient Noise iPhone app and this website.

Summary

Ambient Noise does not require an account and does not include advertising or cross-app tracking. The app sends a small set of anonymous usage events to Google Analytics for Firebase so we can see which features are used; those events never include your audio, sound names, mix names, file names, or URLs. Your recordings and imported files are never uploaded to SK95 Engineering. If you explicitly enable iCloud Sync, a limited set of app preferences and portable mixes is stored through Apple in your personal iCloud account.

Information stored by the app

The following information is stored locally in the app's container on your device:

• Audio you record in the app
• Audio files you choose to import
• Saved mixes, including names and per-sound settings
• Favorites, hidden sounds, your current draft, theme, appearance, and playback-related preferences

This information is used only to provide the app's features. You can delete individual recordings and mixes in the app. Removing the app from your iPhone normally removes its local app container, subject to Apple's device backup and restore behavior.

Optional iCloud Sync

iCloud Sync is off until you turn it on in the app's Settings. When enabled, Ambient Noise uses Apple's iCloud key-value storage to keep your theme, appearance, supported favorites, portable saved mixes, and metadata for sounds downloaded from a direct URL consistent across devices signed in to your iCloud account. Direct-download metadata includes information such as the sound's name and source URL so another device can ask before downloading it again. Ambient Noise does not operate the account or a sync server, and SK95 Engineering does not receive this synced data.

Audio bytes never sync. Microphone recordings, files chosen through the Files picker, their favorites, mixes that depend on those local-only files, hidden-sound choices, the current unsaved draft, active playback, and stop timers remain on the device where you created them. A portable mix may include built-in sounds and direct-link sounds whose metadata can be restored; the audio for a direct-link sound must be downloaded again with your confirmation. You can turn sync off or choose “Remove synced data from iCloud” in the app without deleting local data on that device. Another device that still has sync enabled may upload its copy again. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's privacy policy and your iCloud settings.

Microphone access

Ambient Noise requests microphone permission only when you choose to record your own sound. Recordings are saved on your device and are not included in iCloud Sync. You can deny or revoke microphone access in iOS Settings; the bundled sound library and file-import feature do not require microphone access.

Files you import

When you choose a file through Apple's system Files picker, Ambient Noise copies the selected audio into its on-device storage so it can play the sound later. The app does not upload that copy to SK95 Engineering or include it in Ambient Noise's iCloud Sync.

Audio downloaded from a URL

If you paste a direct HTTPS audio URL, your device contacts that third-party host and downloads the audio directly into the app's local storage. The host may receive standard request data such as your IP address and device or network information under its own privacy terms. Ambient Noise does not proxy the download through SK95 Engineering. If you enable iCloud Sync, the sound's name, source URL, and related portable mix settings may sync as described above, but the audio file itself does not.

Purchases

In-app purchases are offered and processed by Apple through StoreKit and your Apple Account. Ambient Noise receives the purchase entitlement needed to unlock features; it does not receive your full payment-card details or Apple Account password. Apple may provide developers with sales and financial reports under Apple's own terms and privacy practices.

Anonymous usage analytics

Ambient Noise uses Google Analytics for Firebase to count a short, fixed list of product events. The app logs only the event name and small non-identifying values:

• playback_started — whether a single sound or a mix started, and how many layers it had
• mix_saved — how many layers the saved mix had
• personal_sound_added — whether your own audio came from a recording or file, or from a URL
• paywall_shown, purchase_completed, purchase_restored — no parameters

The app never sends sound names, mix names, recordings, imported files, file names, URLs, or any text you type. To operate, Firebase also processes device and app identifiers and general technical information underGoogle's Firebase privacy terms. Ad personalization signals are disabled in the app, and this data is not used to track you across other companies' apps or websites. We use it only in aggregate to understand which features people use.

Data collection and sharing

Ambient Noise does not transmit your audio, sound names, mix names, file names, or URLs to SK95 Engineering or to any third party. It does not use advertising services and we do not sell your data. The only usage data it sends is the anonymous event list described above. Optional iCloud Sync transmits only the information described above to Apple's iCloud service on your behalf. If the app's data practices change, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosure will be updated before or when those changes are released.

This website

This is a static website and does not use account registration, advertising, analytics scripts, or marketing cookies. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may process standard technical request information—such as IP address, browser information, requested URL, and security signals—to deliver and protect the website under its own privacy terms.

If you email support, we receive the email address and information you choose to include. We use that correspondence to answer your request and maintain support records as reasonably necessary. Do not send private audio unless you intentionally want us to inspect it.

Children's privacy

Ambient Noise is not designed to collect personal information from children. The app has no accounts, no advertising, and no user profiles, and the anonymous usage events described above carry no personal information, so we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app, website, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top identifies the version currently in force.
